Graphite dishwashers can be installed using the procedures described in this document. If you are unfamiliar with these procedures, please request help from your personal network or a professional appliance installer.
Before installing a graphite dishwasher, please make sure that you have the following:
A graphite dishwasher.
The installation kit for your specific model of graphite dishwasher.
A source of water that is located adjacent to the intended location of your graphite dishwasher.
A power outlet in close proximity to your intended location for the graphite dishwasher.
Once you have confirmed that you are prepared to install a graphite dishwasher, follow these simple steps:
1) Turn off all water supplies to outlets in the vicinity.
2) Remove any existing appliances from your kitchen area that may be in conflict with the placement of a new graphite dishwasher. In particular, please note that older models of stainless steel dishwashers may emit toxic gasses when placed adjacent to a running graphite dishwasher. To avoid this hazard, we recommend removing any stainless steel appliances prior to installation of a graphite dishwasher.
3) Position your new graphite diswasher carefully so as not to damage any surrounding surfaces. Use the template provided in your

Installing a Graphite Dishwasher
Graphite is an excellent non-stick surface. This is why it is used for the “slip” in pencils, which are made from powdered graphite mixed with clay, and baked. The graphite content can range from 20% to over 70%. The more graphite, the smoother and darker the line that results.
Graphite’s non-stick surface makes it ideal for cleaning dishes. Graphite dishwashers are being sold in Japan and Europe, but are not yet on the market in the United States. This is unfortunate because they work much better than conventional dishwashers for some things.
Graphite as a non-stick surface is also finding use in many other applications where conventional coatings are less satisfactory, such as frying pans and baking trays.
The Graphite Dishwasher is designed for use with a single-person household. These units are well suited for installation in most modern kitchens, and will fit under most standard countertops.
The following instructions are for a standard unit. If your dishwasher was received from the factory sealed, or has been professionally installed before, the instructions below may not apply to you. Please contact your installer or the manufacturer if you have any questions about installing this unit.
It is very important to use a graphite dishwasher, as it has a more uniform texture and larger grain size than other brands of dishwasher. The graphite fibers in the Graphite Dishwasher are oriented at approximately 90 degrees to the direction of the stress fibers in wood, so that the results of mechanical loading and unloading of the wood are transmitted to the fibers along their longitudinal direction. This is also true for pure graphite, but not for graphite with an admixture of other materials. The difference between the pure graphite and the admixed material is that the latter has a higher modulus of elasticity than graphite, due to its high carbon content.
To install Graphite, start by downloading the code from GitHub. You will need to have Python 2.5 or greater installed on your system, as well as pip and virtualenv. After you have these tools setup, you can install Graphite using pip:
