Firstly, you want to make sure that you get all of the dishes out of your dishwasher and set them aside. You will be able to put them back in after the cleaning is complete.
Secondly, take a small bowl and pour 1 cup of vinegar into it. Make sure that you turn on the dishwasher before placing the bowl onto the top rack of your dishwasher. Run a normal cycle with hot water. This will clean out any residue that is left in your machine!
Afterwards, you’re going to want to get rid of any soap scum that might build up in between loads. The easiest way to do this is by running a cycle with just hot water (no dishes or detergent) every once in awhile. This will help prevent mineral buildup which causes those white spots on glasses and silverware!
Thirdly, take some time every few months or so to clean the outside of your dishwasher as well as inside! This can easily be done by wiping down both sides with a damp cloth dipped in white vinegar mixed half

Step 1: Remove everything from your dishwasher including racks, cutlery trays, etc…
Step 2: Run the hottest cycle possible on your machine with vinegar in the bottom of it. This will help get rid of any built up gunk that may be lingering in there. If there is not enough space left over for the vinegar, try filling a coffee mug with vinegar and placing it in the top rack of your dishwasher.
If there are any particularly stained parts on the inside of your dishwasher, use a toothbrush dipped into some baking soda solution (1/4 cup baking soda + 1/4 cup water) to remove those stains as well before running the cycle.
