Once your dishwasher is in the kitchen, remove any obstacles that may stand between it and the countertop where you plan to install it. You will then be ready to begin installation. If you have purchased a roll-away model, complete installation before filling with dishes.

The first step is to measure your door and make sure that the dishwasher will fit through it. If it won’t, you will want to remove the hinges from your door and take the door off to make room for the dishwasher.

If you are moving into a new house or apartment, and you want to put a dishwasher in your kitchen, how do you make it happen?

This blog is dedicated to helping you.

In the past couple of months, I have seen two videos of people trying to get their dishwashers through the kitchen door. When they fail, it is usually because they are trying to do it with one person. This video will show you how to do it with two people.

First, take the door off the hinges, and lay it down somewhere where you won’t trip over it. I put mine in the dining room. Then make sure the screws are out of the hinges on the dishwasher door. You are now ready to move your dishwasher into position.

In this first picture, my friend Rick (who is helping me) and I have our hands on opposite corners of the dishwasher. We’re ready to pick it up and walk it into position between the cabinets as shown in this next picture.

In this photo we have put down a hardback book under each foot of the dishwasher so that we can move it a little more easily. If you don’t want to use books, you could use pieces of wood or almost anything else that would slide easily across your floor.

In this next photo, we’ve slid the front of the dishwasher into place so that it’s flush with the front of your cabinets. Then we turned it

I’m writing this blog to help people who want to put their dishwasher in the kitchen, but can’t because the doorway is too narrow.

When we built our kitchen, I planned to put the dishwasher in the island. I had used that arrangement in a previous house and liked it. The problem was that I didn’t adequately consider how small the door opening into the kitchen was going to be.

I did not have the dishwasher yet, so I couldn’t measure it. But from memory I thought it would be no problem getting it through the door. It was just a little wider than my refrigerator, which had gone through easily enough several years before when I bought it and brought it home.

But when my dishwasher arrived, I realized that it was taller than my refrigerator, much heavier and less flexible as well. After some experimentation, I found it wouldn’t fit through the door even if I took off all its doors and most of its panels. And taking off all its doors and most of its panels seemed like a bad way to introduce a brand new appliance into my kitchen anyway.

When you’re planning a kitchen remodel, the temptation is to kick back and daydream about the finished product, but it’s important to know when to call in professional help, especially when it comes to something as potentially expensive as moving gas lines.

The first step of any kitchen remodel is getting your dishwasher through the door. This may seem like a simple task, but if done incorrectly could result in thousands of dollars in damages.

We’re going to show you how to get your dishwasher through the door without damaging it or your house. The first step is measuring the door frame.

You can get your dishwasher into your kitchen. You don’t need to be a professional contractor to do it. It will still be easy after you’ve done it a few times.

First, read the manual that came with your dishwasher and follow the instructions for installation.

If you can’t find it, Google “dishwasher manual” and search for the model number of your dishwasher (you’ll find it on the back or bottom of the door) and click on “PDF.” Print this out so you have an extra copy while you work.

After reading the manual, choose your starting point in the kitchen. You can start at any point on the perimeter of the kitchen but we recommend starting at a corner where there is no other furniture or appliances nearby. With a partner, lift up one side of the dishwasher and slide it through the door into position. If you are working alone, tilt the dishwasher back against yourself and walk backwards through the door with it, guiding it carefully with your hands on either end until it is in place.
