Slim dishwashers are the new craze in the market today. With their ultra-narrow design, they can fit into any kitchen space and provide the same cleaning power as their wider counterparts. But the extra space they save is not only good for fitting into your kitchen, it also leaves you with a lot of extra storage space!
To help you use that extra space, we have compiled a list of 10 ways to use the extra space in your slim dishwasher:
1. Don’t worry about having to rewash dishes due to a lack of cleanliness! Slim dishwashers thoroughly clean all your dishes so you can put them right back in the cupboard after they are done.

Slim dishwashers might be small, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make use of the space
When you are looking for a dishwasher, size is important. However, there are plenty of different sizes to choose from – from slimline to built-in. The last one is popular with high-end kitchens and usually comes with extra features and a higher price tag. A built-in dishwasher is usually 60cm in width and has 12 place settings – which is more than enough for a family of four or five. Slimline dishwashers, on the other hand, have room for ten place settings and are 45cm wide (also known as compact or table-top). They are perfect if you wish to save some space in your kitchen while also saving water, electricity and detergent.
But just because it’s smaller doesn’t mean it isn’t useful. In fact, there are many ways you can make the most out of your slimline dishwasher! Here are just a few:
1. Use the side for extra silverware
2. Add a bottle holder to the top rack
3. Add a wine glass holder to the top rack
4. Use the sides for extra dishes or cups
5. Install an extra rack on the bottom or top of your dishwasher
6. Use the sides to hang washcloths and hot pads

We are currently working on a dishwasher project with a very narrow width. The idea is to create more space in the kitchen.
The problem is that there is not enough space in the dishwasher for a regular plate. The solution we came up with is to make the dishwasher extra slim, but still usable for all types of dishes you have in your kitchen.
We made it slim by lowering the whole dishwasher to the ground, and making it only 50cm wide. This gives you an extra 20cm of space to place your dishes in. And because it is only 50cm wide, it can fit in any kind of kitchen you have.
You can put all your dirty dishes in it, and they will be clean before you sit down at the table to eat. It also has a special function to make sure that you don’t waste any water while doing the dishes.

1. Add another rack to hold bowls and cups above the original, or replace the original with a big basket or rack that holds lots of stuff.
2. Put bottles upside down to clean them.
3. Make an extra-long wine glass holder that can hold three glasses in one row, instead of just two (or maybe even four). You could also make it tall enough to hold regular glasses and mugs by their stems or handles.
4. Make a little shelf where you can put your sponges and scrub brushes without them getting gross from dishwater spray.
5. Put a small rack on top of the dishes for silverware, so you can run more silverware at once and don’t have to wash them by hand as often.
6. Put the lid on your crockpot on top of your dishes for cleaning, too (this may not work if you have a large crockpot). Same goes for lids from pots and pans that are too big to fit in the dishwasher normally (like my Dutch oven lid).
