Whirlpool Gold WDT710PAYH Dishwasher

The Whirlpool Gold WDT710PAYH dishwasher is a great option for those looking for affordability and simplicity without compromising wash performance. This plastic-tube dishwasher has some great features, but it is surpassed by its pricier competitors in terms of innovation and efficiency. If you want really clean dishes, look no further, but if you are more interested in features, capacity, and energy efficiency, this model might not be the right one for you. Our comprehensive review will help you decide.

Features

The Whirlpool Gold WDT710PAYH dishwasher is generous in the wash options and features department, as most Whirlpools are. Even if it’s not as innovative as more expensive models, for $599 this machine offers a good deal of control. Almost all extra was options can be added to one of the following wash cycles: Heavy, Normal, 1-Hour Wash, Eco, and Overnight wash. The WDT710PAYH has a sensor cycle that automatically selects the appropriate wash and dry setting by measuring load size, temperature, and soil level. There is also a Hi-Temp Rinse, 4-Hour Delay, Top Rack Wash, 55 decibel sound level, child lock, Sani Rinse, and Heat Dry with eco and high settings. The Sani Rinse reached 157.7 degrees Fahrenheit in our tests- sufficient to kill bacteria. These features cover almost any need buyers might have, and the overnight wash is a bonus. We were pleased with its rack design, cutlery basket, capacity, and adjustability.

Design & Ease of Use

The Whirlpool Gold WDT710PAYH dishwasher comes with a new White Ice finish, the company’s stainless steel alternative. Although it would look inappropriate in a Tuscan-style kitchen, it would complement Scandinavian-style cabinetry. The dishwasher’s design is all about simplicity and clean lines, so some users might find it too simple. However, a simple design translates into simple use. We liked the straightforward control panel that allows an easy selection of extra wash options. With the exception of the handle, the Whirlpool Gold WDT710PAYH dishwasher entirely lacks stainless steel. The tub, exterior, and wash arms are made of plastic, but for this price, we can’t complain. Those who do want stainless can choose an identical model with stainless steel exterior at the same price.

Performance

This is where the Whirlpool Gold WDT710PAYH dishwasher stands out from the pack. The Normal cycle was the most impressive, delivering almost perfect results. We also found the Heavy and 1-Hour Wash cycles very useful. Its result came close to perfection in stain tests such as spinach stains. While other machines barely handle these stains and spread tiny spinach particles in the interior, the WDT710PAYH successfully removed 99.21 percent of spinach stains, very impressive for a dishwasher. The Heavy Cycle and 1-Hour Wash are also good, although they are only slightly above average. As for energy efficiency, the Whirlpool Gold WDT710PAYH dishwasher has a higher operating cost about $10 or more than other similar machines. If you are interested mainly in cleaning power, this model is a great buy.

VERY GOOD

The Whirlpool Gold WDT710PAYH dishwasher is a great buy if you care about cleaning power, ranking among the best we’ve tested. However, its design doesn’t fit any kitchen and its energy efficiency is not the best. Nevertheless, we were impressed with its strong set of features and wash options. If you have a limited budget, you can’t do much better.
