GE Profile PDT760SSFSS Dishwasher Review

The GE Profile PDT760SSFSS may look like one of the top dishwashers, yet this is merely a reinvented GE dishwasher. In many ways, the PDT760SSFSS is very similar to the PDT750SSFSS model, one of the few differences between the two models being a $300 dollar difference. However, we are all familiar with the saying “if it ain’t broken don’t fix it”. Given the fact that the PDT750SSFSS dishwasher was very efficient, we see no reason why its newer version would not be a good investment. Nevertheless, let’s take a closer look at it and see if it’s worth the $300 price difference and how it stands compared to other products on the market. Since its $1,599 price tag is slightly more expensive than the average dishwasher, we want to see some above-average performance.

Main Features

GE Profile PDT760SSFSS is a very quiet dishwasher, having a 40 dBA level. Considering the fact that the average conversation is about 65 dbA loud, we are pretty impressed by this dishwasher’s decibel level. This feature is great if you have the habit of running loads before going to bed or if you have an open kitchen, connected to the dining room. This GE dishwasher allows the users to choose between 5 wash cycles: a normal cycle, a heavy-duty cycle (for dirty pots and pans), a quick/light wash cycle, an extra rinse cycle, an Express cycle, an eWash cycle, and a heated dry cycle. The dishwasher also has 11 options: a Delay Start 1-12 Hours option, a Pre Soak option, a Child Lock option, a Wash TempBoost option, a Sani option, a Heated Dry option, a Wash Zone Upper Only option, a Wash Zone Lower Only option, a Start/Reset option, an Energy Smart option and a Bottle Wash option.

Technical specifications

The GE Profile PDT760SSFSS dishwasher has a tall tub design and a stainless steel interior. Its hidden controls are very easy to access. This dishwasher is designed to offer a high washing efficiency. In order to do this, it is equipped with a four-blade wash arm located at the tub’s bottom, numerous rows of spray jets located on the sidewalls, and blue-capped Bottle Wash nozzles located on the top rack. We also like the fact that this dishwasher is equipped with a Clean Sensor and a 100% Filtration with Piranha Hard Food Disposer and Removable Filter.

Ease of use

In order to be as easy to use as possible, this dishwasher features top-mounted mechanical buttons and a full-color LCD screen located in the center of the control panel. A lot of people prefer mechanical controls over touch screen controls, especially since touch screens tend to be less durable. Nevertheless, there are several dishwashers on the market which feature far easier-to-use control interfaces. For example, the LG Studio LSDF9962ST has a very modern touch screen control panel which is also included in a very good warranty package. Then again, when it comes to electronics, LG is known to be a lot more trustworthy than GE. Nevertheless, given these shortcomings, we would expect the Ge models to be cheaper than the LG models, which is not always true.

Certifications and consumption

GE Profile PDT760SSFSS is a rather efficient dishwasher, from an energy consumption point of view, a fact proved by its ENERGY STAR compliance. Over the course of a year, it should use about 275 KWh, which translates into a 33 $ estimated yearly operating cost. While this is a rather impressive consumption, it still falls short of the LG Studio LSDF9962S which has a $27 estimated yearly operating cost.

Capacity

The newer GE dishwasher has a larger capacity than its predecessor which is mostly owed to its additional third rack. In fact, the third rack is the main difference between this model and the GE Profile PDT750SSFSS. A lot of people might think that an additional rack is not really worth a $300 price difference. However, this all depends on each individual’s needs. If you have a large household and you cook on a daily basis, a third rack can save you a lot of trouble. We like the fact that the upper rack is adjustable and that this dishwasher’s interior is very well organized also featuring a three-piece cutlery basket

Design

To the untrained eye, the GE Profile PDT760SSFSS looks like one of the top 2015 dishwashers, yet its design is very familiar to us since it is identical to its predecessor. Nevertheless, we have to admit that the glossy stainless steel finish is still very good looking and the front-facing LCD screen gives this dishwasher a very modern touch. It is 23.75 in. wide, 34 in. deep, and 24 in. It is only available in a stainless steel finish, a fact which can be a big disadvantage for people whose kitchen interiors are anything short of modern. It is possible to integrate it within the kitchen cabinets yet this can be a challenging mission, given the dishwasher’s large size.

Durability and warranty

GE dishwashers are known to be very durable, yet one can’ trust just words. Unfortunately, this GE dishwasher comes with a very poor warranty package which only covers the parts and labor for one year. This is yet another field where GE falls short of LG and other bigger brands.

VERy GOOD

This dishwasher features numerous convenience features. Nevertheless, it is not very different than its predecessor, and compared to other competitive dishwashers it is slightly more expensive yet not more impressive.
